MINTQUIET / PRACTICAL GUIDE

Recipe ingredients that make a better grocery list

Start with the recipes you already cook. Mintquiet turns their ingredients into a shopping list when you add meals to the week.

One ingredient per line

Open Recipe box, name the recipe and enter how many people the original recipe serves. Then enter ingredients naturally:

400 g pasta
2 tomatoes
1 1/2 cups milk
2 cloves garlic
salt to taste

Save the recipe, choose it in a meal slot and adjust that meal's servings. A four-serving recipe planned for six multiplies its measured ingredients by 1.5. The original recipe stays unchanged.

How quantities combine

InputWhat the list does
500 g rice + 1 kg riceCombines to 1.5 kg when name and aisle match.
1 cup milk + 3 tbsp milkCombines compatible volume units.
2 cloves garlic + 10 g garlicKeeps separate lines; cloves cannot be converted to grams reliably.
1½ onionsShows the whole-item shopping quantity rounded up, alongside the exact recipe need.
Salt to tasteIncludes salt without inventing a quantity.

Choose a shopping aisle

Aisles are guessed from the ingredient name. Add an override such as 200 g cheese @ Dairy. The supported aisles are Produce, Meat, Dairy, Bakery, Pantry, Frozen and Other. Keep ingredient names consistent: “tomato” and “cherry tomatoes” describe different shopping items.

Use what you already have

Review the generated list before shopping and tick ingredients already in your kitchen. The ticks are a checklist; this tool does not measure pantry stock or deduct quantities from inventory. Untick all when you need a fresh shopping checklist.

Keep a portable copy

Download backup in Recipe box saves recipes, the planned week, extra items and ticks as JSON. Restore it on another device or browser. Copy or download the shopping list for the shop; a list-only text file does not contain your recipe library.
